Job Duties
Working in an EDG data science project with a team of data scientists and data engineers to improve data quality through machine learning techniques for data enrichment.
- Apply Machine Learning algorithms to infer, impute, or predict missing data.
- Apply NLP algorithms to extract information or insight from raw text data.
- Develop tools or library to enhance and automate data science workflow.
- Receives general supervision and guidance from more experienced team members.
- Follows department processes, procedures and client requirements; may make recommendations and/or implement improvements/ solutions.
- Participates in Internship Program activities and events to include: onboarding, educational activities, information sessions, product demos and social events.
- Provide general administrative support as needed.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Job Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master degree program pursuing a related degree at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Minimum of three years of relevant coursework completed.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative collegiate grade point average, on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.
- Prior internship or co-op experience preferred.
- Participation in campus activities related to field preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through participation in on-campus activities, educational forums and/or prior work experience.
- Coursework on statistics or machine learning is required.
- Hands-on experience with code development using Python or PySpark is desired.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis using SQL, BigQuery or Hive is desired.
- Hands-on experience with model development on GCP or AWS cloud platform is desired.
Assignment Specific Experience
- Ability to understand computational logic and algorithms.
- Ability to extract data from SQL, HDFS, GCS or other database platforms to perform data analysis.
- Ability to organize, cleanse, and dedupe extracted data for data science experimentation.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate Big Data analytic tools, software, and technologies.
- Ability to apply programming language such as Python, PySpark, SQL, Hive, and BigQuery.
- Ability to work within a cross-functional team and matrix management structure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation; strong interpersonal abilities.
- Solid analytical capability; ability to exercise sound judgment; strong decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail; high degree of quality orientation.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills; ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

- Strong technical aptitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, such as Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.
